BigMenace The public alpha version of Boxee was released last night during the San Francisco meet-up. I decided to download the app late last night, and this version of Boxee is much better than the previous private release of the media browser. The new versions of Boxee puts the Windows version up to par with the Ubuntu and Mac versions with one exception, Netflix. I have a little conspiracy theory that Netflix is not available on the Windows versions because Microsoft has them Netflix locked in on Windows. Currently, Microsoft offers a Netflix app on the XBOX 360, which also functions as a Windows Media Extender, and most recently on Windows Media Center. Allowing Boxee to share the Netflix glory man steal user from them. I would not use the Netflix app on WMC or the XBOX 360 if it was available on Boxee, because I can get all of my media in one place. Check out this media browser and see how you like it. I was able to find enough content to stop paying for cable/satellite service. The savings are very plentiful.
